How To Be The Best Student - Presented by Denise Jeter
This workshop will give students the necessary skills to be more organized, more productive, and receive the grades that reflect who they are.
Treat Me Like a Lady (FOR GIRLS ONLY) - Presented By Sheryl Goodloe
This workshop will focus on making the transition from girlhood to becoming a young lady. It will offer guidance to high school girls on how to deal with situations of conflict, social networking, etiquette and other areas of struggle and uncertainty. This interactive workshop will address appropriate behavior and provide a forum for honest discussion and role play.
How to Start Money Smart - Presented By Jameel Webb-Davis
Come learn why it takes more than a good education and a good paying job to have a healthy financial life. This fun, interactive class gets down to basics about managing bank accounts, credit cards, and the bills you can expect when you move out on your own. It is possible to transform any situation to success when you learn the skills to face your financial life head on!
Understanding Education: How to really use it to get PAID!!!!(FOR BOYS ONLY) - Presented By Dr. Omar Reid
This workshop will provide the tools necessary to truly gain wealth. Through interactive discourse, role playing and discussion, young male participants will journey through how young men of color have been viewed historically and how they can change that perception through education. They will also discuss how they can transform their creative energies into an entrepreneurial experience.
Thinking about “Stepping up your game” - Presented by Ms. Claudette Blott
This workshop will be designed to explain the high school process to student in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. It will review the foundation of academic standards and answer the questions: How to research schools, how to find the right college for you, should you do a college visit and interview, what is needed for college, what you have to offer a college and how to pay for the college experience.
It will allow students to see why their high school is important and just one stepping stone to get accepted into their dream college or university. It will highlight the gifts and talents that each of the students have and explain how they can use those talents to get the most out of their high school and college experience. It will also give them an opportunity to turn mistakes into positive initiatives and find out what they are capable of if they focus on their next step.
How to be a Healthier You - Presented by TBA
This workshop will provide students with the tools necessary to live a healthier life. It is never too young to begin eating right, exercising and taking care of your body. A food demonstration will also be provided that provides students with healthy snack alternatives.
Wheelock College Tour - Presented by Ambassadors for Wheelock College
Students will have the opportunity to tour the Wheelock College campus, meet current students and hear firsthand about college life.
Connecting to History - Presented by Kristina Kyles
This will be the final event of the afternoon where students will learn about history and all that makes us who we are. Through interactive play and discourse, students just might discover how connected they are to the past.
