MDA Youth/Middle School Conference Guidelines
Conference participation is limited to students enrolled in the Massachusetts METCO program. Your registration is NOT confirmed until you have been approved by your METCO Director/Coordinator.
Students are expected to use the transportation provided as well as adhere to the following guidelines:
· Dress code is business casual; no jeans, no low-hanging baggy pants, no t-shirts, no hats, no do-rags.
· Students are to participate in all conference activities as scheduled.
· Begin and end the day at designated times.
· Remain at the conference site at all times.
· Respect the ideas, values and behaviors of others. Prejudice has no place in our conference community.
· Respect the property of others.
· Do not litter.
· The use of tobacco, alcohol, or drugs is prohibited.
· Fireworks, firearms, knives and other dangerous weapons are prohibited.
· Take reasonable and responsible actions to insure one’s safety and to reduce the risk of accidents to self and others. This includes following safety directions and information given by conference staff.
· Report any illness or injury immediately to conference staff.
· Do not bring cassettes, CD players, Walkman/I-Pod, beepers or computer games.
· Cell phones must be turned off.
· Because time is short and the conference experience intense, friends and family are not invited to visit during the conference.
· In case of emergency, messages for participants will be received by the conference staff.
YOUR ATTENDANCE AT THE CONFERENCE WILL INDICATE THAT YOU HAVE READ THE ABOVE GUIDELINES AND HEREBY MAKE A COMMITMENT TO ABIDE BY THE CONFERENCE RULES. BREAKING THIS COVENANT IS GROUNDS FOR IMMEDIATE DISMISSAL FROM THE CONFERENCE.
